Japanese Grocer to Open on Tampa Avenue One Block from Northridge Fashion Center
Los Angeles, Calif. (March X, 2022) – Kennedy Wilson Brokerage, a division of Kennedy-Wilson Properties, Ltd., has completed a lease in Northridge, CA with Mitsuwa Marketplace, the largest Japanese grocery chain in the U.S. Currently operating in five states, this will be the twelfth Mitsuwa Marketplace and the first in Northridge. Kyle Fishburn, Senior Associate at Kennedy Wilson Brokerage, represented the landlord, securing a 10-year lease.
Leasing a 9,600 square-foot space at 8940 Tampa Ave. that was previously occupied by Pier 1 Imports, Mitsuwa Corporation was one of several companies interested in this central location, which will make the busy neighborhood center a grocery-anchored destination. The growth in popularity of the specialty brand and its expansion throughout the pandemic made Mitsuwa Marketplace a desirable tenant for the highly visible space on Tampa Ave., as it is poised to drive consistent traffic to the center.

Fishburn has completed several other notable leases at 8920-9068 Tampa Ave. (formerly known as Walnut Grove Shopping Center), including 85°C Bakery Café, Banfield Pet Hospital, IHOP and Keller Williams Realty. Mitsuwa Marketplace in Northridge is expected to open in the fall of 2022. Its current locations are open 365 days a year and feature food courts, fast food stalls, bakeries, matcha shops, prepared sushi and sashimi, and an expansive offering of Japanese groceries.
